Support Queer Owned Small Businesses
I wanted to use my art as a way to talk about the safety issues that I, and I’m sure so many other queer-owned businesses and creators, are experiencing.
I recently posted a video talking about the importance of supporting queer owned businesses during the year, especially after the election. It received a large amount of hate comments targeted towards my business, including some that were threats towards my safety.
Being openly trans can be terrifying as a business owner. It’s a risk simply being open, never mind also selling queer artwork. It’s something I stress about too much, especially running events and having a public studio and storefront.
But it doesn’t change my passion to create art for my community. It only makes it stronger. It reminds me of how badly my community needs this representation because for every single hate comment, there’s five more comments thanking me for helping them feel seen.
So I just wanted to use this as a reminder to give love to those queer owned businesses and creators that are doing their best right now. I managed to make a list of some that I’ve worked with for you to support so feel free to check them out below! You can also comment or message me so I can add them!
